OPPOSITION leader Anwar Ibrahim on Tuesday said a leaked medical report confirmed his innocence in the allegations of sodomy against him by a former aide.

The report issued by a doctor at a government-linked hospital who examined Mr Saiful Bukhari Azlan, 23, the accuser, said there was no evidence of sexual assault.

The June 28 medical report was first made public by a popular Malaysian news website on Monday.

'The hospital report leaked yesterday confirms our contention that the allegations levelled against me are baseless and politically motivated, and that the complainant is an outright liar working hand-in-glove with those in power to assassinate my character,' Mr Anwar told a packed news conference at his party headquarters.

He said he did not know where the doctor who examined the young man was, and that there had been no denial from the hospital or the police that the medical report was a fake.
