GEORGE TOWN, Malaysia: A 16-year-old boy who was abducted by a man on Thursday was forced to drink two unknown liquids that burned his mouth and throat so badly that he was unable to speak.
At the Penang Hospital here yesterday, the boy had to write down on paper the ordeal he went through.
Muhamad Akhir Idris said he was forced by the man into a car outside his home in Sungai Gelugor here at 1.30pm on Thursday after he had dropped a cousin home nearby on his motorcycle.
He said he was brought to an office in Minden Heights where he was first forced to drink a purple liquid by the abductor and two Thai nationals who were also in the car.
He said he was then tortured and forced at gunpoint to drink a second liquid that looked like an isotonic drink, adding that he instantly felt a sharp pain in his mouth and throat.
Muhamad Akhir said he then pretended to faint after which the abductors drove him to Balik Pulau, about 20km away, and pushed him out of the car by the side of Jalan Baru, where he asked for help from a trader.
Earlier, a neighbour who had witnessed his abduction had alerted the boy's family. His father, Idris Shahid, 60, immediately lodged a report at the Jelutong police station.
Idris said he received a call at about 5.30pm that day asking him to pick up his son at Jalan Baru. After picking up his son, Idris took the boy to the Penang Hospital for treatment.
A man, in his 50s, was arrested by police later the same day to help in the investigations in the case. He was released on police bail at about noon yesterday.
DAP Bukit Gelugor MP Karpal Singh, who called for a press conference at the hospital yesterday, urged the police to conduct an urgent investigation into the case as it involved kidnapping and attempted murder.
George Town OCPD Asst Comm Azam Abd Hamid said police were investigating the case. --The Star / Asia News Network
