TAMPIN, Malaysia: A policeman suffered slash wounds on the face and hands after he was attacked by a man with a parang in front of his house in Taman Bukit Tampin, here, on Thursday night.

Chief inspector, Md Zin Kasron, 52, who is attached to the district police station logistics department, was slashed as soon as he got down from his car to open the gate.

It is understood that the victim had returned from a game of badminton with his friends, when the man came from behind and attacked him.

Md Zin fainted at the scene due to severe blood loss and was rushed to the Tampin Hospital by passers-by, before he was transferred to the Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Seremban.

State police chief Datuk Osman Salleh, who visited the victim at the hospital, had confirmed the incident and said that police were investigating the motive of the attack.

"The victim is reported to be in stable condition. The suspect has not been identified but we are investigating the motive for the attack," he said.
