KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA: Cameras clicked when Natalie Glebova walked out of the arrival hall at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport yesterday.

A chorus of "selamat datang" rang out to welcome Miss Universe 2005.

On hand to greet her were the 18 finalists of the Miss Malaysia Universe 2009 pageant.

Glebova, 28, will be on the panel of judges at the finals of the beauty pageant to be held at the Royale Chulan here today.

Relating her own experiences as a Miss Universe, Glebova said it was important to radiate positive energy whenever on stage. "Being Miss Universe was one of the best things I could have ever wished for," she added.
Meanwhile, Miss Malaysia Universe event director Syeba Yip is on a different mission.

"Beauty pageants have lost their glory and class over the years. The organising team is trying to restore the glamour.

The finalists had to attend workshops and learn from the experiences of former Miss Malaysia Universe queens, such as Datin Josephine Fonseka.

The winner of the Miss Malaysia Universe 2009 will represent the country at the Miss Universe pageant, which will be held at the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas on Aug 23.
