FOUR days after lying unconscious from being repeatedly stabbed at Telok Blangah Heights, 55-year-old Heng Kim Teck died in hospital from his injuries on Saturday.
His nephew, Heng Boon Chai, 29, who originally faced life imprisonment for attempted murder, is now looking at the possibility of the death penalty.
A police spokesman said on Saturday that Mr Heng died at 2.30 am and the case has been reclassified as murder.
Mr Heng was carrying out some wiring work with a colleague inside a flat on the sixth floor of Block 63 when the attack took place on Tuesday afternoon.
The younger Heng was charged on Thursday with attempted murder in the hospital where he was warded for injuries he sustained in the incident.
He is expected to appear in court again next Thursday.
