JUST 18 months after its opening, mega nightspot St James Power Station has added two nightspots in Orchard Road to its fold. On Tuesday, St James chief executive officer Dennis Foo, 55, sealed a deal to acquire B:One and The Living Room bar, both located at the Singapore Marriott Hotel, for $1.2 million, The Straits Times' Life! reported. Come May 20, Bar None, which was renamed B:One last year, will revert to its old name and will return to its former glory with two new resident bands and foreign dancers from St James. Popular among partygoers as a rock music venue, Bar None, a 10-year-old nightspot, will also, for the first time, feature live acts performing Latin jazz during happy hours. And starting tonight, partygoers have something else to cheer about. St James' membership privileges, such as a 20 per cent discount on bottle purchase and a 5 per cent drink discount during happy hours, will apply at Bar None. The same perks will also be extended to new Bar None members at St James. The annual membership fee for both nightspots is priced at $288, which includes one bottle of liquor and free entry for two guests. For now, however, the cross-marketing does not apply to The Living Room. The changes come after a discussion this month between Mr Foo and Mr Jason Choo, 36, founder of Bar None and The Living Room. The two men haveknown each other for 10 years. In an interview at The Living Room, Mr Choo told Life!: "Bar None has evolved over the years with its changing clientele. "Although business is profitable, it needs to have new customers. "This partnership allows us to tap St James' resources in entertainment, technical support, marketing and its membership database of 20,000, to bring it to another level." With the acquisition, Mr Choo will become a shareholder of St James while the managing director of Bar None and The Living Room, Mr Marco de Miranda, 37, will continue to oversee the operations of both outlets, which employ 40 service staff.
