MRS LEE Kuan Yew is in serious condition at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) after suffering massive right intracerebral haemorrhage.

At 12.20am on Monday, she experienced a sudden left-sided weakness and slurring of speech, a statement from the Minister Mentor's office said. Mrs Lee, 87, was taken to the National Neuroscience Institute for an urgent brain scan, which revealed the haemorrhage.

She was subsequently admitted to the Neurointensive Care Unit at TTSH. The haemorrhage stabilised after close monitoring and treatment, and she was transferred to the general ward on Wednesday.

She is able to recognise immediate family members.
