MALAYSIA'S Chief of Navy, Admiral (ADM) Datuk Abdul Aziz Bin Haji Jaafar, called on Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean and Chief of Navy Rear-Admiral Chew Men Leong at the Ministry of Defence on Thursday morning.

ADM Datuk Abdul Aziz, who assumed the appointment of Chief of Navy, Royal Malaysian Navy on April 1, is in Singapore for a three-day introductory visit from Wednesday to Friday.

He will visit the Republic of Singapore Navy's Training Command as well as tour the Formidable-Class Stealth Frigate, RSS STEADFAST, at Changi Naval Base.

His visit underscores the long-standing relationship between Singapore and Malaysia, said a Mindef statement on Thursday.

The Singapore and Malaysian Armed Forces interact regularly though bilateral exercises such as Exercise MALAPURA, as well as through the Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA).

The two navies also work closely to enhance regional maritime security through the Malacca Strait Patrols.
