Woman, 71, hit by MRT

AN elderly woman was killed after she was hit by a train at the Clementi MRT station on Tuesday morning, disrupting westbound train service between Queenstown and Jurong East stations for about 50 minutes

The woman, believed to be a 71-year-old Chinese, was hit by an oncoming train at 6.15 am, said SMRT in a statement.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it received a call about the incident at 6.18am. SCDF officers found the body lying under the third carriage of the train and had to manually extricate it.
