A HUNDRED made-in-Singapore armoured vehicles have been ordered up by Britain's Ministry of Defence (MOD), and will head into harm's way in Afghanistan.

Singapore Technologies Kinetics' Broncos, to be modified and renamed Warthogs, will be an all-terrain terror with the British forces - operating in water and on land.

They can climb sleep gradients, tackle vertical obstacles and roll across trenches - while carrying up to 14 soldiers.

The deal is worth over £150 million (S$342 million). The president of Singapore Technologies Kinetics, Mr Chee Jhuen Sew, said: "We have been delighted by the close and constructive relationship established between Britain's MOD and ST Kinetics."

The Warthog will come in four variants: a troop carrier, an ambulance, a command vehicle and a repair-and-recovery vehicle.
