Caning case under probe

PEKAN, MALAYSIA - A 14-year-old student here alleged that she was caned by a teacher on her left thigh on Oct 8. Her offence was she did not wear the school badge during the school assembly, and it resulted in her being punished by the teacher.

Upon returning to her classroom, the victim noticed her left thigh was swollen due to the caning.

Two days later, the victim's family lodged a report. District police chief Superintendent Yahaya Othman said the case was being investigated.
