By Candice Cai This year's top Eurasian student never expected he would do so well in his Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE). A student of Chongfu Primary School in Yishun, Ahmad Ashraf B Muhammad Johari emerged as one of Singapore's top pupils this year with an aggregate PSLE score of 271. However, he had expected a score slightly above 250 as that was what he achieved in his preliminary exams. Sharing his elation upon receiving his results with AsiaOne, he said: "I am very happy. My results has exceeded my expectations." Ashraf, whose strongest subject is Mathematics, revealed he has been preparing for the "exam of his life" since Primary 1, and credits his good results to his mother, who has been coaching him for the past two years. When asked if he has any tips for students preparing for their PSLE next year, he says simply, "Just work hard, have the motivation to do well and do your best." His form teacher, Mr Dicky Quah, is proud of Ashraf's achievement as well. "I'm happy that he managed to realise his potential," he said. When asked if he uses any techniques to motivate his students to excel, Mr Quah said: "I take the time to get to know each one of my students, to find out how they are and to motivate them in their studies on an individual level." Besides the honour of producing Singapore's top Eurasian student, Chongfu Primary School has also made it to the list of schools that have one or more students with an aggregate PSLE score of 275 and above. This year's top PSLE student is Wee Yen Jean from Nanyang Primary School, who had a T-score of 287. For more information on this year's PSLE results, see: >> PSLE results |
