KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA - Miracle girl Tee Hui Yi has battled a heart condition and won the fight but she still has one more important challenge to go through - the PMR examinations.

The PMR exams, which are taken at the end of Form 3 (Secondary 3), streams students into either the Science stream or Arts stream.

"I'm very nervous about next year's exams. I hope I'll pass," said Hui Yi.

She was in the news when she underwent double heart transplant in October last year.

Hui Yi, 16, missed four years of school because of her illness. "I do feel malu (embarassed) because I have to do Form Two (at age 16). But I was sick.

"I hope I can be on the same level with my friends (of the same age) soon.

"But it's pretty hard to catch up (on studies)!" she admitted.

Hui Yi was at the National Heart Institute (IJN) here recently to give her moral support to Tan Geek Koon, 40, and Chen Winnie, 23, who are waiting for new hearts.

Both Tan and Chen are on mechanical hearts, the same device that was fitted on Tee.

Looking healthier, Hui Yi said she could not bear cigarette smoke and heat.

"I can't be near sick people, too, because I'm prone to infection. I am also on medication for life,"she added.

PMR worries aside, Hui Yi has something to be happy about - the chatty lass recently recorded a song for a Chinese New Year album.

"It was a wonderful experience for me to record the song as it was my first time," she said, adding that the album and song were titled "Happy that the New Year is Here." --The Star
