I refer to Mr Rohit Brijnath's article last Sunday, 'Love at first sight'. Like Mr Brijnath, my wife and I are also avid readers.

When my son was a baby, we would show him picture books, tell him stories and read to him. Now, the first thing my five-year-old looks for every morning is a book to read.

Before I met my wife, I used to visit the MPH bookstore in Stamford Road. Then I met my wife, and we would frequent Kinokuniya and Borders. Now, we also go to Page One at VivoCity. I just love this place. It is less crowded and more conducive for a quiet outing.

We also spend a lot of our family time at the libraries.

With the current economic downturn, my wife and I have reduced our spending on books and magazines. We try to borrow as many books as possible from the libraries.

But as and when there is a big book sale, my wife will invade the place like a Navy Seal commando, all prepared to get 'value for money' books for our son.

I am able to understand deeply the tone of Mr Brijnath's article. My mother was instrumental in giving me the reading habit. And I am glad that both my wife and I now share this same passion. I hope our son can continue to enjoy this passion.
