The damage caused by a 7.2-magnitude quake that rocked rural northern Japan yesterday, killing at least six people, is still being calculated. A 95m-long bridge collapsed in Ichinoseki in Iwate prefecture, where the temblor originated. In Oshu city, also in Iwate, at least one person died and several were hurt. In Miyagi prefecture, the quake destroyed inns and set off fatal landslides.
