TOKYO, JAPAN - A male Japanese aid worker has been abducted in eastern Afghanistan, Kyodo news agency said on Tuesday.
The man, who worked for a Japanese nongovernmental organisation called Peshawar-kai, was kidnapped early on Tuesday near Jalalabad, Kyodo said, citing the group.
Japan does not have troops in Afghanistan, but its navy runs a maritime refuelling operation in support of U.S.-led military operations in the country.
