BANGKOK, THAILAND: Thirty-two-year olds Vincent Chung and Samuel Wu from Hong Kong emerged the winning team in the third outing of reality television series The Amazing Race Asia. But neither of them are from the city.

Samuel Wu, a Singaporean, is currently an English and communications lecturer at the City University of Hong Kong and considers himself a "Hongerporean". His partner, Vince Chung, is a freelance comedian from Canada.

In a Life! interview, Wu understands how Singaporeans will not support him, and even less so when they beat the real Singaporean team Adeline Chan and Faeza Sirajudin.

The two men took home US$100,000 (RM361,000) after coming out tops among 10 teams from around Asia. When asked what they will do with the prize money, both will save it up in these tough times and set some aside for "treats".

The teams spent two months racing across Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Macau, India and Oman.

Their exploits were broadcast in weekly episodes of the series by the producer, satellite television channel AXN.

Filipinos Geoffry Rodriguez, 26, and Tisha Silang, 32, came in second while award-winning Malaysian actress Ida Nerina Hussein, 44, and writer Tania Khan, 36, got third placing.

The show's first season in 2006 was won by Malaysians Zabrina Fernandez and Tee Joe Jer.

The second season last year was won by Singaporeans Adrian Yap and Collin Low.

Malaysians Vanessa and Pamela Chong, the sisters of popular singer Vince Chong of Akademi Fantasia 1 fame, finished second in the second season.
