PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA: Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim has not ruled out efforts by the Asean Troika to monitor the effect of the unrest in Thailand on regional stability and security.

He said that while Asean continued to uphold the policy of non-interference in members' affairs, he said the Asean secretariat should think about it.

"It is too early (to consider the idea of the troika looking into the Thai situation). Let the secretariat mull over it. But, there's certainly enthusiasm for whatever ideas that we have to be channelled to the secretariat."

The Asean Troika is an ad hoc body comprising the present and past foreign ministers of the Asean Standing Committee.
