Soldiers in an armored regiment of the Lanzhou military area command have been free to surf the Internet in the camp since 2007, cyol.net reported.

The regiment collected 300,000 yuan ($60,720) by self-financing and absorbing social investments and bought 40 computers in June 2007. The camp Net bar facilitates the lives of soldiers and has been promoted to many other regiments in Lanzhou, Northwest China's Gansu province.

Every company can surf the Internet once or twice per week, while every soldier can spend at least two hours in the Net bar at a cost of 1.5 yuan per hour. The regiment gives 30 yuan in Net subsides for every soldier per month, so basically the Net service is free, the report said.
