SINGAPORE - GAZ de France will team up with Singapore Power to build the city-state's first liquefied natural gas terminal, the Singapore firm said on Monday.

Gaz de France will hold a 30 per cent stake in the joint venture project that involves construction of a terminal with a capacity of 3 million tonnes of gas a year.

The terminal complex will include a jetty, unloading facilities, storage tanks and a 're-gasification' plant, Power Gas, a unit of Singapore Power, said in a statement.

Power Gas declined to disclose the expected cost of the project. Resource-poor Singapore is keen to diversify its energy supplies. -- REUTERS
