THE sequel to the all-time local box-office champ Money No Enough is here after 10 years and expectations are high.

At Monday's press conference held at the Pod at the National Library, Mr Lim Teck, general manager of Scorpio East Pictures and one of the film's producers, predicted that the film will make between $4 million and $5 million.

The Tay Teck Lock-directed original cost $800,000 and earned $5.8 million. It starred Jack Neo, 48, and comedians Mark Lee, 39, and Henry Thia, 56, as three friends hatching schemes to solve their money problems.

The $1.5-million sequel reunites the three key cast members but as brothers this time, and tracks their financial ups and downs. It is expected to recoup its costs if it crosses the $3-million mark in receipts.

Despite the critical drubbing that regularly greets his films, director-actor Neo has consistently shown the Midas touch at the box office.

'Ah Long Pte Ltd might not have been the favourite movie of some in Singapore but it did well at the box office,' he points out.
