What a week it has been for the Yeong-Nathan household. Two siblings, two champions. With the AMF World Cup trophy, now add the National Masters' trophy.

At yesterday's 39th AIA National Bowling Championships, a composed Jason Yeong-Nathan defeated Vincent Lim 257-218 pinfalls in the Masters' final.

It was Jason's second Open success, his first having come in 2005. Incidentally, Jasmine was the National women's winner that year.

At a loss of words to describe his win, the 25-year-old said: 'I can't think of anything. I'm just so happy about this win.'

His role as older brother then resurfaced as he said: 'I'm also very proud of Jasmine. It was a fantastic achievement for her to win in Mexico.'

The national bowler maintained his stunning form from the qualifying round, finishing top of yesterday's 12-game final with an average of 219.2.

His 2,630 total guaranteed him top position and secured his place in the step-ladder grand finals.

For his efforts at the Orchid Bowl, Jason collected $5,000.

Jason's father, R.V. Nathan, was understandably thrilled at his son's performance.

He said: 'It's a great feeling for us with our non-stop champions. First Jasmine and now Jason. I'm so proud of them.

'It was a good win for Jason. He led from the start and was consistent throughout the tournament.'

The women's champion was national bowler Geraldine Ng, 22. She collected $2,000 for her victory.

Will there be a big celebration then, for the champion siblings?

'Unfortunately their mother is leaving for Shanghai tomorrow morning,' said Nathan. 'She'll be back on Wednesday, so hopefully we'll do something special for them on Thursday.'

In the meantime, there is the small task of making space in the family's trophy cabinet.
