THE policeman who arrested Mernel Koh should not blame himself for her death.

He was doing his duty to prevent crime.

I do not blame him for the teen's death but, instead, I blame her parents for failing to educate theirchild on right and wrong.

If they did, the blame must then go to the teen, because she failed to understand the severity of her crime.

If she were not caught, she could have gone on to commit more serious crimes.

I would like to remind parents that they should spend more quality time with their children.

Many children resort to crime not because they enjoy doing so, but as a means of getting attention from their parents.

I hope the policeman's colleagues and superiors can encourage him to keep up his good work in keeping Singapore safe.

Last but not least, thank you to all policemen and policewomen for keeping Singapore safe.

Mr Ace Kindred Cheong
