Death of an A*Star scholar his father is still not sure how his son died.

Former A*Star scholar Lin Zi Qiang, 25, fell to his death from the ninth floor of her block on Wednesday.

Zi Qiang had gone there to ask her to be his girlfriend but she refused as she had chosen his close friend instead.

His father, Mr Lin, told Lianhe Wanbao that when he arrived at the scene on Wednesday, the young couple's heads were bowed, eyes tearing.

Friends sorry for Li's death.

Mr Lin said: "When they saw how sad we were, the two of them knelt down and told us they were sorry."

But Mr Lin said the two did not go into the details as to what had happened, leaving him and his wife confused over how their son had died. He said: "I asked them, what caused my son's fall? But they didn't answer."

The Lianhe Wanbao reporter asked if the Lins had forgiven the pair.

Mr Lin said: "I believe no one wanted something like this to happen. Before this, I told Zi Qiang that he should let go, but he couldn't. And hence this tragedy."
