WHO is the hottest woman in sport? The answer is tennis babe Maria Sharapova.

According to a recent MSN poll, which saw 3,600 responses in less than a week, the stunning Russian beat 29 other superstars by a landslide victory.

Hosted on the MSN sports channel, Singaporeans had to choose from a list of 30 superstars from various sports including golf, tennis, athletics, swimming, diving, football, beach volleyball, pool, softball and table tennis.

Sharapova took 40 per cent (1,470 votes) of the votes to gain top spot. In second place is another tennis star, Serbia's Ana Ivanovic with nine per cent (330 votes).

She was followed closely by yet another tennis babe - Russia's Anna Kournikova with eight per cent (294 votes).

In fourth place is Russian pole-vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva.

And, completing the top-five is Singapore's very own Olympic silver medallist, table-tennis star Li Jiawei.
