REAL Madrid wants Arjen Robben. Very badly.

Real coach Bernd Schuster admits he will breathe a little easier if the Spanish champions can tie up a deal for the Chelsea winger.

Madrid are looking to strengthen the left-hand side of their team ahead of the new season and have been chasing Robben, Jose Antonio Reyes and Royston Drenthe for much of the summer.

While Reyes is now being tipped in the Spanish media to sign for Atletico Madrid, Schuster feels the acquisitions of Drenthe and, in particular, Robben would be a major boost for his plans.

'I would be a lot more relaxed if they were here,' said the German.

'Getting Robben here is very important for us. That would allow Robinho and (Gonzalo) Higuain to be on the right.

'I want a lot of mobility there, similar to what (Zinedine) Zidane did.

'I am sure that we haven't closed our squad yet.'

Schuster will be happy to hear that Chelsea are willing to do a quick deal.

According to British media reports, Chelsea want Real to fork out as much as £25 million ($75m) for Robben.

The 23-year-old has two years left on his current contract, but Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is willing to sell a player whom he described as 'injured a little but takes a long time to recover'.

Mourinho is eager for Robben and Real to make a firm decision quicky as he prepares for the Community Shield clash with Manchester United on Sunday.

STANLEY HO: He is unwanted by Chelsea but coveted by Real. The end result is clear. Robben will become a Real player by Sunday, while Mourinho will welcome the extra cash generated by the sale to strengthen his squad further.
