A VICIOUS fight on Sunday night near Chinatown left one man bleeding from stab wounds.

Two men have since been arrested.

Scrap collector Tan Kok Liang, 34, is now at the Singapore General Hospital.

He was unconscious when the police found him but it is understood he regained consciousness yesterday.

According to the police, they received a call about a fight at a void deck in York Hill, off Chin Swee Road, at about 9.35pm.

When they arrived, they found the injured Mr Tan.

It is understood that he was bleeding from the abdomen.

Chinese evening newspaper Lianhe Wanbao reported that there was a witness to the Sunday night fight.

Mr Huang, a 59-year-old worker in the transport industry, told the newspaper that he was at the void deck of Block 11 when two men appeared.

He saw a man punching and then stabbing Mr Tan, who fell.

The assailant then fled. The second man, in his early 60s, was arrested soon after by the police.

Yesterday evening, the other man, who is in his mid-50s, was caught. It is understood that he was arrested in York Hill.

According to Mr Tan's mother, Madam Xiao Bao Yu, 54, who spoke to Lianhe Wanbao, the attack may be linked to the death of Mr Tan's uncle.

She said that in February, a man had allegedly pushed Mr Tan's uncle, 60.

The uncle, who hit his head on the ground, died two months later. Mr Tan had wanted to talk to the person.
