A MAN who hurled his 7-year-old son against a wardrobe, a wall and the ceiling was fined $1,000 yesterday, escaping what a judge said would normally be a jail sentence.

The 43-year-old marketing executive, who cannot be named to protect the identities of his children, was enraged after returning home from work to find that his sons had been watching TV instead of doing their homework.

He slapped the boy and tossed both him and his younger brother, aged six, around the room. The seven-year-old suffered bruises on his forehead, arm, legs, neck and back.
