SINGAPOREAN artist Yeo Chee Kiong has snagged the biggest art prize in the Asia-Pacific region, the first Asia-Pacific Breweries (APB) Foundation Signature Art Prize.

The 38-year-old sculptor was awarded the top prize of $45,000 for his conceptual art work, A Day Without A Tree. He beat nine other artists from countries such as Cambodia, Sri Lanka, China and India.

At first glance, the winning work, which was commissioned by and displayed at the National Museum of Singapore from last November to January this year, appears to be nothing but a large milky puddle.
