Hong Kong - The mother of the late Anita Mui may have to go on social welfare after a court cut her HK$120,000 (S$23,190) monthly allowance from Mui's estate.

A judge on Tuesday suspended the payment to Tam Mei Kam, 85, after hearing that there was only HK$85,000 left in the estate until a London property was sold in a few weeks' time, the South China Morning Post reported yesterday.

Even then, Tam is facing a lawsuit over a HK$200,000 debt and her creditor may get his hands on the property sale proceeds.
