Malaysia's new Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex is set to open next month after a delay of more than a year. Located in Bukit Chagar, the RM1.26 billion (S$534 million) complex will be able to handle 70 million visitors a year once it is fully operational.

The project was delayed after a plan to build a new bridge between Singapore and Malaysia was cancelled.

The new CIQ, which is linked to the existing Causeway by a new road, includes high-tech features such as sophisticated scanners which free customs officers from having to check travellers' luggage manually.
