Chen out of sight, but still in the headlines

Photos of him looking ill and being on friendly terms with prosecutors have sparked talk. -ST

TAIPEI: He may be locked up in prison, but former president Chen Shui-bian is not letting up efforts to keep himself in the headlines so as to drum up support for a rally tomorrow.

First, images of a wan and unshaven Mr Chen, who has been on a hunger strike since last Wednesday, appeared in the media after he was sent to a hospital over the weekend.

Then on Wednesday, the plot thickened when the media ran a photo showing him on friendly terms with two prosecutors investigating corruption and money laundering allegations against him and his family.
