He stole $423,000 from Borders

Using company cheques, he bought a luxury car. -ST

NO ONE suspected a thing when accountant Ochieng Claudius Oyula bought a $153,000 car.

So, the 32-year-old Kenyan national, who worked in Borders bookstore, snapped up a $5,000 home entertainment system, a $2,000 bicycle and a Sony PlayStation worth about $600.

Unbeknown to those around him, the Singapore permanent resident was paying for the luxuries with forged company cheques. Only about $28,000 of the $423,000 that 32-year-old Kenyan Ochieng Claudius Oyula stole has been recovered.
