Exploiters of minors should not be let off easy

Rigorous sentencing is needed to deter prostitution involving young and vulnerable.

JUST because a minor agrees to be sold as a sex slave does not make it okay to exploit her.

This is the argument I would have made against the initial sentence that Chinese national Wang Minjiang received for pimping a 17-year-old - an $8,000 fine.

Three weeks ago, High Court judge Choo Han Teck was asked to decide if this was appropriate punishment for Wang.
