EFFORTS by the Traffic Police to curb the incidence of drink-driving have paid off.

Arrests of drink-drivers fell by more than 8 per cent this year. Accidents involving drunk drivers also dropped in number, from 148 incidents between January and September last year to 132 for the same period this year, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Simon Ng.

A combination of intensive education via anti drink-drive campaigns and tough enforcement have been credited as the main reasons for this improvement.
